Milky Way Pre-school is based in a large room within a community centre with access to outdoor space. It is in the Longsight area of Manchester, an inner city area with a large ethnic population and is fully accessible to the local community. The community centre is based opposite a local primary school.


The provision provides sessional and full day care to children aged 2-5 years old and is based within one room.


There is a fully enclosed area available for outdoor space at the front of the building. The building itself is accessed via steps and the room is accessed via a secure door from the entrance area of the community centre. The toilets are located on the opposite side of the entrance area.


The pre-school currently operates from 9- 430 to accommodate the needs of the existing parents. The setting is registered for 15 children with 11 children currently on roll. (full time/part time).


5 staff work within the room. Two are qualified to level 3, 1 has qualified teacher status, 1 is working towards level 3 and 1 is working towards level 2.


The majority of children who attend the setting do not have English as their first language. The staff team reflects the diverse cultures within the community.
